Booting Up the Global Computer

摘要

Around the time that Richard Buckminster Fuller was contemplating Spaceship Earth, communications scholar Marshall McLuhan was also thinking globally (he gave us the phrase "global village"). Like Fuller, McLuhan has had a lasting influence and, in particular, gave us a way of thinking about technology and media as "extensions of humanity." That is the concept I'd like to tease out a bit as we wrap up this issue of CBR.
