Microbial flow cytometry: Characterization of microbial communities

摘要

Cytomics and Proteomics can be used in combination to analyze structure, dynamics and function of microbial communities quantitatively and with high resolution. In order to understand the function of individual bacterial species within communities, the application of a sorting step is necessary to recover sub-populations or sub-communities in a purified form. In this study, a sorting filter device technique and an on-membrane digestion protocol was used in conjunction with LTQ-Orbitrap MS to identify proteins from Escherichia coliand Pseudomonas putidacells.
