Scientists, inventors or entrepreneurs who see monopolistic patents as obstacles in their quest for low- carbon technology will have their chance to confront the intellectual property system's architects at the Science Museum on 23 July, starting at 6pm. The IP Office and the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys are running a debate on the motion 'This house believes that patents are stifling the innovation needed to ensure abundant, low-carbon energy supplies'.
