Zum Vorkommen gefahrdeter Gefabpflanzen im Goldenstedter Moor (Landkreis Vechta, Niedersachsen)2007 im Vergleich zu 1987

Occurence of endangered vascular plants in "Goldensteder Moor" (District Vechta, Lower Saxony) in 1987 and 2007. – Vascular plants listed in the Red Data Book of Lower Saxony were mapped in nature conservation area "Goldenstedter Moor" near Vechta in 2007. A study with a nearly equal methodology had been carried out in 1987. In both years, five endangered species were found: Andromeda polifolia, Drosera intermedia, D.rotundifolia, Rhynchospora alba und Vaccinium oxycoccos. The populations of Drosera spp. and Rhynchospora alba increased rapidly after 1987, whereas the populations of Andromeda polifolia and Vaccinium oxycoccos decreased.The species which increased their populations mainly grow in former peat mining areas, but also in game paths, wallows, trails and other disturbed patches created by caterpillars. The decreasing species lost many locations by starting industrial peat mining after 1987 and because of scrub encroachment. These species have colonised only a few new locations in new water logging areas. In some cases, populations of these species were even destroyed by inundation. The presented data are suitable particular for a further long-term monitoring.
