Road transport has biggest impact on global warming

A recent scientific study explored the effect on global mean temperature of transport emissions from a single year over different time periods,and found that emissions from road transport have themost impact.Carbon dioxide(CO2)is a greenhouse gas(GHG)that remains in the atmosphere for centuries.Thus it has an influence on warming over relatively long time scales compared to some other GHGs,such as methane or ozone.High levels of CO2 emitted as a result of fuel consumption mean that road transport makes the largest contribution to global temperature increases when 20 to 100 year timescales are considered.
