Accreditation of providers of proficiency testing schemes

The primary aim of proficiency testing (PT) is to assess laboratories' competence to perform specific tests and measurements. It thus supplements laboratories' own internal quality control procedures by providing an additional external audit of their testing. It also complements onsite assessments (peer group review) conducted by accreditation bodies.
