FOUR NEW STATE RECORD TIGER BEETLE TAXA (COLEOPTERA: CICINDELIDAE) FROM KENTUCKY

A comprehensive survey of Kentucky's tiger beetle fauna has never been conducted, but 19 taxa have been reported from the state. One reported taxon, Cicindela purpurea audubonii LeConte, could not be substantiated with voucher specimens or other published literature, so the report is considered erroneous. Four taxa, Cicindela ancocisconensis T.W. Harris, C. marginipennis Dejean, Ellipsoptera lepida (Dejean) and Tetracha carolina carolina (Linnaeus), previously unreported from Kentucky have been documented and are reported here for the first time, bringing Kentucky's known tiger beetle fauna to 22 species.
