Phoenix TPC's thermoplastic materials business has been growing at a brisk pace, which necessitated the recent move to a new headquarters and larger production facilities in Taunton, MA. In addition to increasing its materials production capacity, Phoenixx TPC has been actively developing new applications, materials, and refocused its business plans. These new developments will be the center point of the company's presence at the JEC Composites Show 2002 held next month in Paris, France.Phoenixx's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Michael Buck, reported that the company will be touting several of its latest application development efforts at its JEC booth, which have largely focused on industrial applications. Buck told CMR that they have been developing applications such as fans, compressor blades, and doctor blades. These applications can benefit from the improved toughness, wear, and abrasion resistant characteristics of thermoplastics as compared to epoxies. It was further indicated that most of these applications involved carbon fiber as the chief fiber reinforcement, with lesser quantities of glass and aramid in some projects.
