Boom stability is an issue for most sprayer operators, particularly as application speeds rise. So can a novel system really deliver benefits? For Leics grower and contractor Steve Heard automatic boom level and height control has been a real boon. Since investing in a system he has hardly looked back - quite literally. He first considered such a system when planning to upgrade his self-propelled sprayer from 24m to 30m booms. "We planned to go to 30m for both spraying and spreading fertiliser for the obvious benefit of increased output and reduced tramline wheelings," he explains.
