The comeback of cardboard can be explained by consumers' and producers' changing perception of plastic because of its main source: oil. When oil was still inexpensive, and easily and peacefully available, producing plastic packaging seemed to be the obvious choice. This is no longer the case; pe are more concerned with protecting the environment, and recyclable papei and cardboard have become popular again, all the more so with the emergence of newly developed bio-based barrier films.
