Packing more material into every bale is the aim of baler manufacturers. Improved baling performance, especially in variable and lighter swaths, is the aim of a newpacking system on Vicon's big square balers. Instead of working to a fixed cycle, packing tines in the Power Density System of the LB200 series balers are activated only when sufficient material has been gathered in the pre-chamber. "The previous design worked well when there was a large volume of material in the swath," says David Furberof Vicon. "But in lighter swaths it could be difficult to get the material in fast enough to maintain a decent bale shape."
