Originally published in the Fall 1988 issue of Biodynamics (No. 168), this article was based on a talk Trauger Groh gave on January 18,1988 as part of a midwinter lecture series to membersand friends of Brookside Farm near Amherst, Massachusetts,IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THINK about the role of the animal on our farms, as well as in the landscape as a whole. On the way to Amherst I saw three beautiful black Dexter cows at Brookside Farm.
