DELVING INTO YARROW AND VALERIAN at the Fellowship of Preparation Makers Conference

THE BIODYNAMIC PREPARATIONS encapsulate the vitalism concept: there is far more to these herbal preparations that simply their physical properties, important though those may be. (See the interview with Dr. Paul Lee on page 12 for more on vitalism.) Indeed, nearly 100 people from across the U.S. and Canada came together in Oregon for four intensive days to study the gestures, perspectives,and insights of the yarrow and valerian preparations. Perhaps equally importantly, though, they also gathered tomake and enhance the connections so vital for practicing biody-namics back on their own land. Organized by the Fellowship of Preparations Makers and made possible with much help from the Oregon Biodynamic Group, the gathering included many experienced preparation makers, as well as farmers and gardeners relatively new to biodynamics.
