There is no one else quite like Nicolas Joly. In the field of viticulture, he has long been world renowned as proprietor of the Coulee de Serrant, a vineyard in the Loire Valley of France that has been continuously cultivated since Cistercian monks planted it in 1130. Joly, author of Wine from Sky to Earth: Growing and Appreciating Biodynamic Wines, was one of the first major vintners to apply biodynamic methods to wine-growing in the 1980s. Today, he is recognized as one of the world's foremost authorities on biodynamic wines, which have recently become a much-discussed topic in both the viticulture and biodynamic agriculture circles.
