FROM the perspective of the grain market,the biofuels boom will present a few challenges.Based upon the latest harvest figures from USDA,the country's corn producers will consume 1 billion more bushels in 2006 than were grown.This will deplete the nation's carryover supply.Since it takes 1 bushel of corn to produce 2.8 gallons of ethanol,increased demand from this sector will leave growers little choice but to plant more corn in 2007 to keep up.
