PRECISION ag practitioners and many manufacturers -- specifically those in charge of hooking up wires properly and ensuring the compatibility of components and software -- have long championed standards that allow the many tools of our trade to talk t o/work with each other in perfect harmony. However, standards tend to run counter to the principles of free enterprise and competition, as companies duke it out in search of market dominance. Standards happen -- but at a relatively slow pace.
