Pigmented Lesions In Specific Anatomic Sites

Pigmented lesions that occur on specific anatomic sites can cause diagnostic difficulties both clinically and histologically. The unique structural and functional characteristics of these sites can cause alarming clinical and histologic appearances, leading to difficulties in determining malignant disease. Specific sites to be discussed include epithelium of labial surfaces, conjunctiva, acral surfaces of palms and soles, and the nail apparatus.
