Intra-/inter-molecular interactions - Identification and evaluation by optical spectral data in solution

The intra-/inter-molecular interactions govern the main aspects of many physical, chemical and biological processes. This review article summarizes the opportunities given by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy to identify, evaluate and analyze the possible intra- and intermolecular interactions between component molecules of a given liquid solution mainly from the last ten years. An overview of most frequent approaches used to analyze the intermolecular interactions that can appear between solute-solvent and solvent-solvent molecules was presented. Several selective literature examples that highlight the aforementioned aspects were also discussed. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
