BACKGROUND: Trigeminal schwannomas are fifth cranial nerve tumors that originate from the nerve sheath. They rarely occur within the pediatric population and can cause dysfunction of the trigeminal nerve and surrounding structures. When patients become symptomatic, neurosurgeons should consider resection.
