International Rebar Producers and Exporters Association (Irepas) released its monthly short-range outlook, describing the global long steel products market as fuctuating and unstable.Uncertainty in the global long steel products market has increased dramatically, Irepas says. Nowadays, the most stable region is China, where steelmakers have been increasing their weekly production volumes, whereas the rest of the world is just trying to hang on. According to the association, the main issues affecting the market are the production increase that the world steel industry has seen since 2016 and the unexpected drop in demand in the EU amid the activity in the US under the Trump administration “which has not been as good as predicted,” the statement reads. Overall, the association fnds the changeable protectionist picture is the main contributor to the current instability.
