Refineries located in the US Midcontinent are expected to continue to see strong margins on the back of the ability to access price-advantaged crudes from Canada and US shale plays. Zachary Rogers, a Refining and Oil Markets Research Analyst at consultancy Wood Mackenzie, remarked, "Until you see adequate relief up in west Canada, we think the number-one region for refining economics in the US will continue to be the US Midcontinent."
