摘要

Both countries are looking to increase biofuels usage to reduce imports of crude and refined products due to rising import costs. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Aug. 10 that the country is looking to build 12 biorefineries at a cost of 100B rupees ($1.4B) in an attempt to reduce its oil import bill by 120B rupees ($1.7B) by 2022, and to lower its carbon emissions. These biorefineries will produce biofuels from a variety of feeds such as crop stubble, municipal solid waste, and plant waste. The Prime Minister noted that India is looking to increase its ethanol output to 4.5MM kL (77.4K b/d) over the next four years, as the county aims to raise the ethanol content in its gasoline to 10% by 2022, and 20% by 2030.
