NuStar blames PMI for vessel damages caused by faulty fuel oil

Toyota Tsusho Petroleum filed a lawsuit on March 27 against US-based midstream company NuStar Energy,alleging that bunker fuel provided by NuStar damaged a vessel chartered by Toyota.NuStar filed a response with the Houston Division of the US District Court Southern District of Texas on May 30,explaining that the residual fuel oil(RFO)was purchased from trading firm PMI of Mexico on April 17,2018.Some of that fuel was sold to the Beatrice,which Toyota says incurred damages due to excessive levels of phosphorus,zinc,and calcium.Toyota is seeking $421,785 in the lawsuit.NuStar wants the claim dismissed,saying that PMI should be held responsible for the damage to the ship as well as for costs NuStar incurred related to the incident.
