Total strike suspended, but fuel tax protests unabated

The CGT (Confederation Generate du Travail) trade union called on members to strike at refineries and depots run by Total as a protest for higher wages and to lift a freeze on bonuses. (Please see related article on p. 6 of Nov. 26 Digest) On Nov. 29, union members decided to adjourn the strike until annual salary negotiations begin on Dec. 11. The strike suspended operations at the 253K-b/d Gonfreville refinery, reduced production at the Feyzin and Grandpuits facilities, and blocked refined product deliveries at the refineries as well as depots at La Mede and Flanders.
