There may be no CO2 emitted from a tailpipe of an EV, but when drivers plug in those vehicles for a charge, the fuel being burned to generate that power could be producing more pollution per kilometer driven than clean diesel or gasoline do from comparable internal-combustion engines. Carbon is also produced in the manufacturing and recycling of EV batteries, and there are concerns about soil and water contamination if batteries are not recycled properly.
