The African nation is continuing to look to private firms to help increase its domestic refining capacity in an effort to reduce the amount of refined products it imports.Crown Refinery & Petrochemical Ltd.has signed an MoU with Ondo State government for the building of a $500MM modular refinery in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo.The refinery-which will be designed to process both imported paraffinic and Nigerian crudes-would have an initial capacity of 30K b/d,but this capacity could be doubled to 60K b/d within the first five years of operation should demand warrant.The refinery is expected to be completed within 36 months.
