US technology firm DuPont Clean Technologies has successfully completed a performance test of a 3.4MM-mt/y(70K-b/d) IsoTherming~R diesel hydrogenation(DHT) unit at CNOOC Oil & Petrochemicals Huizhou refinery and petrochemical plant in Guangdong province in China.The new IsoTherming unit will allow the plant to produce diesel that meets the China IV diesel standard.Commenting on the new unit,Chen Chun,Chief Engineer of the CNOOC Refining and Marketing Division,said DuPont's IsoTherming liquid-phase hydrogenation technology saves energy,consuming far lower levels of oil-equivalent to raw material volumes than traditional trickle-bed units consume.Huizhou's diesel liquid-phase hydrogenation unit uses just 4.33 kg of oil equivalent/mt of raw materials.
