Petrochemical producers should integrate plastics recycling

While current plastic recycling efforts are focused on reusing single-use plastics,there exists great opportunities for PC producers to use recycled material at their sites.According to Principal Director Paul Bjacek at consulting company Accenture(incorporated in Dublin,Ireland),because energy companies already have large production sites for operations,they may able to take advantage of existing infrastructure to incorporate recycling technology with gasification and pyrolysis.There are multiple reasons why energy companies should pursue this:(1)byproduct streams will be able to be used either as chemicals,fuel or fuel blends,or raw materials for polymers,(2)plastics recycling will occur at locations that would not face community opposition,and(3)the technology already exists to do this work.
