Shale 2.0 to see deployment of advanced technologies

The IEA is forecasting the next shale revolution in the US will boost US production to 19.6MM b/d by 2024, up from 15.5MM b/d last year. This so-called Shale 2.0 phase will see drillers deploy advanced technologies(e.g., advanced analytics, artificial intelligence)to enhance drilling activities with the aim of boosting well productivity and lowering development and production costs. Regina Mayor, Global Sector Head of Energy and Natural Resources at KPMG, pointed to how shale exploration and production companies are doing more with technology.
