Puma Energy sells assets to Chevron Australia

As part of the transaction,US oil major Chevron's Australia-based unit will buy Singapore-based Puma Energy's commercial and retail fuels businesses in Australia.The deal closed for $A425MM($288MM).Singaporean-based Puma Energy,49% of which is owned by Geneva-based trading firm Trafigura,has been looking to balance its budgets of years of heavy spending.Puma Energy's Australian bitumen business was not part of the deal.The deal will allow Chevron to return to the Australian fuel retail after selling its share in Caltex Australia for $6.7B in March 2015.Puma Energy delivers more than IB liters/year of fuel to the Australian market with 270 retail stations,3 bulk seaboard terminals,and 20 depots.Chevron's Executive Vice President stated,”The acquisition will provide Chevron with a stable market for production volumes from our refining joint ventures in Asia and create a foundation for sustainable earnings growth.”
