BP and Shell explore adding more ethanol to gasoline in Iowa

In order to take advantage of cheap ethanol prices in the corn-producing state in the US Midwest, the two oil majors are gauging interest for E15 (15% blended ethanol in gasoline) at various stations, up from the current Iowa standard of 10% blended ethanol. Elliott Oil Co., a BP-branded gas station, has been selling E15 in the town of Osceola for two weeks. According to company Spokesperson Ray Fisher, Shell is planning to implement E15 in Indiana and Illinois in addition to Iowa.
