AMLO could enact energy reforms to boost Pemex

On Sept.22 the Mexican president asked energy regulators,the National Hydrocarbons Commission(CNH)and the Energy Regulatory Commission(CRE),to help strengthen state energy firm Pemex by halting the issuing of permits to private competitors to Pemex in the country and by providing tax breaks to and refinancing Pemex's massive $100B debt load.Two sources said if regulators do not use existing laws to strengthen Pemex,President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador(AMO)said he could seek energy reforms after midterm elections are completed next June to meet his goals of boosting the state energy firm.
