Shell to sell Appalachian shale gas assets

The Anglo-Dutch energy major has agreed to sell its Appalachia shale gas assets,which currently produce 250MM scf/d (7MM Nm~3/d),to National Fuel Gas Co.(NFG)for {541MM.Royal Dutch Shell will transfer approximately 450K net leasehold acres in the US state of Pennsylvania with approximately 350 producing Marcellus and Utica wells in Tioga County as well as associated facilities and approximately 142 miles (229 km)of gathering pipelines and related compression interconnect with various interstate pipelines,to NFG.The deal,which is still subject to regulatory approval,is expected to close in July.NFG is expected to pay the sales price in cash,but has the option to provide as much as $150MM of NFG common stock as consideration.
