Japan's Crude Steel Production in Jun Rises 0.4% to 8.79 MT [Prelim.]

The Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF) announced on 22 July Japan's steel production (preliminary) for June. The production of pig iron stood at 6.569 million tonnes, up 3.4% year-on-year (y/y), the first increase in two months. The production of crude steel stood at 8.789 million tonnes, up 0.4% y/y, the first increase in ten months. Per-day output of crude steel was 0.293 million tonnes, up 4.7% from 0.28 million tonnes in May.
