According to the China Iron & Steel Association (CISA), the stockpile of iron ore at the country's major ports as of August-end stood at 121 million tonnes (mt), up by 4.90 mt (4.21%) month-on-month (m/m). This figure, which represents the total inventory of imported iron ore stored at 40-something domestic ports, is regarded as one of the indicators that forecast future production trends in China's steel sector.
