Japan's Plate Exports to S. Korea in Mar Rise 4.9% M/M to 77,000 Tonnes

According to trade statistics by Ministry of Finance, Japan, the country's export volume of steel plate to South Korea in March 2019 stood at 76,800 tons, up 4.9% month-on-month (m/m) and 19.4% year-on-year (y/y). The cumulative exports for the Jan-Mar period stood at 0.2378 mil tonnes, up 52.4% y/y. Japan's plate exports to South Korea have got back on a recovery track after hitting the bottom in 2017 at 0.311 mil tonnes. The export volume for 2018 was 0.7359 mil tonnes, a 2.36-fold increase y/y. At this pace, the annual total would reach 0.95 mil tonnes and mark the highest figure since 2015.
