Slab Prices in Asia Vary by $10 between China and Southeast Asia

In the Asian region, negotiations on steel slabs are in a final phase for August shipment, and part of them are for September shipment. There is a price differential by US$10 at present between China where economic activities have recovered and Southeast Asia where an influence of the novel coronavirus epidemic is still strong. In the Southeast Asian region, China’s prices are recovering to an extent that its hot-rolled (HR) steel coils are offered at US$475 CFR for September shipment while prices of Southeast Asia are said to be mainly $450 CFR or so. Under the situation, purchasing stances among rerolling mills are different.
