The 2nd national referendum, in which independence from France is questioned, was implemented in New Caledonia on October 4, and the independence was rejected by approval with 46.73% of votes to disapproval with 53.26%. Although the independence was rejected by approval with 43.60% of votes to disapproval with 56.40% at the 1st national referendum on November 4 2018, the ratio of approval at this time increased from the previous time. Mean while, we understand that public concerns were high as the voting rate at this time was 85.6%, and that of the previous time was 80.63%.
