The NHS is facing "considerable challenges" in supplying enough asepticaliy prepared injectable medicines, and chief pharmacists are responsible for ensuring adequate contingency plans are put in place, according to NHS England's Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS). The SPS said that the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has taken regulatory action against some commercial aseptic compounders and limited their aseptic compounding activity.
