PHARMACISTS' FORMAL ROLE WITH DRUG RECOVERY PATIENTS

Community pharmacists should be given a formal role in managing patients in drug recovery programmes who are "being parked" on methadone, members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) have been told. This call, by pharmacist Carole Hunter, followed evidence from MSPs to the parliament's health and sport committee saying community pharmacists had a key role in formally supporting people on methadone recovery programmes.
