Elizabeth Molyneux and colleagues (May 28, p 1837) propose a shortened treatment course for specific types of bacterial meningitis. The goal of eliminating unnecessarily lengthy antibiotic treatment is laudable and a venture long overdue. However, for several practical reasons, these recommendations might be more applicable to high-income than to low-income countries.
