Anaesthetic-related mortality in sub-Saharan Africa

In their systematic review and meta-analysis, Daniel Bainbridge and colleagues (Sept 22, p 1075) assess anaesthetic-related mortality in developed and developing countries. From the perspective of the anaesthesia department of a large sub-Saharan hospital in one of the poorest countries on earth, I feel that three additions might help to understand certain challenges.
