Editorial comment: pancreas.

摘要

Significant advances in pancreatic research have improved our understanding of the pathophysiology of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. Many of the basic observations can be translated into improvements for the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic disorders. Five topics are included in this issue in addition to my editorial comments. These topics include molecular regulation of pancreatic duct cell functions by Drs Steward and Ishi-guro; regulation of pancreatic acinar cell function by Drs Hussain and Thrower; neural and hormonal regulation of pancreatic secretion by Drs Chandra and Liddle; chronic pancreatitis by Drs Dimagno and Dimagno; and pancreatic surgery by Drs Hines and Reber. These authors are well known for their investigation and clinical expertise in their respective fields. They provide what I hope you will find to be a concise yet comprehensive review of key papers published in 2008.
