Lymphadenectomy for pregnant women with stage I cervical cancer

Philippe Morice and colleagues (Feb 11, p 558) recommend laparo-scopic lymphadenectomy for pregnant women with stage I cervical cancer and refer to French and European consensus meeting guidelines. They argue that the morbidity noted in 31 published cases was low and that lymphadenectomy allowed for reliable risk stratification. This recommendation seems potentially harmful and lacks sufficient evidence.
