In vitro Drug Susceptibility of Pathogenic Escherichia coli Isolated from Diarrhoeic Piglets of Meghalaya and West Bengal (India)

摘要

The research study was conducted to report and compare in vitro antibiotic susceptibility of various pathogenic Escherichia coli isolates recovered from ante-mortem and post mortem samples from diarrhoeic piglets of Meghalaya and West Bengal to 11 commonly used antimicrobial agents. The antimicrobial agents that showed high sensitivity in both Meghalaya and West Bengal irrespective of the causal serotypes including those showing pathogenicity in adult rabbits and albino mice were enrofloxacin, chloramphenicol, ceftriaxone and cefotaxime.
