Supplementation of Herbal Blend Significantly Increased Immune Response to Newcastle Disease Vaccine

A study was planned to investigate the role of (Ocimum sanctum, Zingiber officinale, Allium sativum, Trigonella foenum graceum, Curcuma longa, Andrographis paniculata and Corian- drum sativum) herbal blend in desi birds feed at 0.5% level for their immunostimulant effect against Newcastle disease (ND). There were 20 birds in each group with control group A fed with regular feed and group B with the herbal supplement in feed raised in conventional deep litter system. The experiment lasted for 120 days and the immune performance was investigated periodically. Significant immune performance (p<0.001) was found in the treatment group as compared with the control. Thus the present findings suggest that the herbal blend is better for boosting the immune response against ND in desi birds.
