Clinico-Diagnostic Studies on Reticulo-Diaphragmatic Hernia in Cattle -A Review of 27 Cases

Seventeen Jersey cross bred and ten Holstein Friesian cross bred cattle were presented to Veterinary College and Research Institute hospital, Namakkal with the history of anorexia, recurrent tympany and scanty faeces. On clinical examination animals hadrecurrent tympany, hypermotility of rumen, regurgitation, scanty faeces and bruxism. Haemato-bioehemical parameters were in normal limits. Herniation of reticulum into the thoracic cavity was noticed in radiography. Ultrasonography revealed absence of echogenic diaphragmatic line separating the cardiac silhouette and reticulum.
