AUSTRALIA COULD HAVE 90% RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY BY 2040 WITH NO PRICE INCREASE

An analysis by RepuTex,an energy and carbon consultancy,has outlined two models on Australia's energy transition.One is the current transition under existing policies,and the alternate case has more aggressive action to meet the Paris Agreement.Under existing policies,Australia is on track to have 50% renewable electricity by 2030,and 75% by 2040,but wholesale electricity prices will rise after 2030 as coal-fired plants are retired with no clear investment strategy for new power.
