Results are presented of a study assessing the quantum of availability of D. hatagirea in its natural habitats. Data are given for frequency, density, abundance, relative density and abundance/frequency ratio in protected and unprotected sites in Uttaranchal, India. The effects of grazing, trampling and weed proliferation on the persistence of this orchid species are also discussed..
