yyyy A simple "turn-on" colorimetric and fluorometric chemosensor, 3-nitro-1,8-naphthalimide derivative (1), was successfully developed for the light-up detection of CN- with high selectivity. The cyanide-induced nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen in nitro-controlled naphthalimide (1) to produce the anionic delta(H) adducts, which can be further converted to cyanation-hydroxylation product 3, was first disclosed.
